Maths

Mathematics knows no races or geographic boundaries; for mathematics, the cultural world is one country.

Maths

We are an enthusiastic and dedicated team, determined to present Maths as an interesting, exciting and creative subject that is relevant to the lives of our students.
Our aim is to provide a supportive environment where students can work to the very best of their ability, giving students a personalised education with work differentiated for them and regular assessment feedback being provided; plus, there is the opportunity for one-to-one intervention if required.
Schemes of learning are produced for each class with starting points in mind; we understand many children might be working significantly below their chronological age and plan lessons, using national curriculum skills from Y1-9, to develop important skills quickly. We also focus on functional skills including money, telling the time, and applying maths to our daily lives; these skills are essential in each child’s EHCP.
All children secure entry level maths in year 9; this ensures a positive start to key stage 4 in year 10 with students knowing they CAN succeed.  The majority of KS4 students will sit AQA Mathematics 8300 GCSE, at either Foundation or Higher Level which consists of taking three papers during the summer term of Year 11. Students also have the opportunity to undertake Edexcel Functional Skills at Level 1 and 2, as well as Entry Level Certificate at Level 1, 2 or 3 if this course is more appropriate to their academic or SEND need.

Qualification Pathways

A range of qualifications and pathways are available to our students, maximising their opportunities for success.
