Pupils to be inspired and encouraged to learn more about the world around them and what has happened throughout time.
To enable this we cover a range of topics in Geography, History and Beliefs and values. We actively encourage pupils to question and express their views and opinions and listen to the opinions of others.
We have designed our Geography curriculum to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. As pupils progress at The Meadows, their growing knowledge about the world should help them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.
The History curriculum at The Meadows allows pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
We have designed our Beliefs and Values curriculum to build pupils’ knowledge and understanding of religion, faith and belief. We aim to develop pupils’ critical thinking skills to enable them to reflect on ideas of tolerance and respect for others both locally, nationally and globally.
