Literacy

At The Meadows Academy, Literacy is a vital tool to help set up our students to be successful once they have left school. We complete weekly Literacy lessons during tutor time where we look at reading, writing, oracy and improving the spelling, punctuation and grammar of our students. Students are also expected to read three days a week during tutor time in order to improve their fluency, confidence and word decoding skills in relation to reading.
 
Once students have completed their independent or class reading books, they complete a quiz on Renaissance Learning in order to bank the words read. We then have prizes at the end of every half term for the students with the most words read in the school.
