At The Meadows Academy, we know that the journey beyond Year 11 can feel uncertain for many of our pupils. For students with SEMH needs, the transition into further education can be especially daunting — too often, they leave school without a clear path, unsure of their strengths or where they belong.
K, one of our Year 11 students, has been bravely navigating this transition. While he’s always looked forward to life after school, ambition and self-belief haven’t come easily. That’s why his placement at B Powerful has been such a turning point.
Spending two days a week in their workshop, K has begun to see himself differently. The team at B Powerful recently shared, “He’s been down in the workshop, his improvements with the tape measure for example have been stand out. He wasn’t confident at all with it, but by the end of today we had him working to the millimetre.”
This kind of feedback is more than just praise — it’s proof to K that he can succeed, that college is within reach, and that his future is something he can shape. His confidence is growing, and so is his ability to visualise what life beyond school might look like.
We are incredibly proud of K and grateful to B Powerful for helping him take these important steps. His journey reminds us why personalised support and real-world experiences are vital in helping our pupils belong, become, and go beyond.
