The group arrived safely yesterday and quickly settled into camp, pitching their tents at the foot of the mountains. Students worked collaboratively to organise their equipment and establish their base, showing great teamwork and independence from the outset.
Today, students are taking on a demanding 15km hike, which includes a climb of around 600 metres. This is a significant physical challenge that requires resilience, perseverance and strong teamwork throughout the day. As part of their route, students will be climbing one of the mountains within the Snowdonia range near Llanberis, an area well known for its dramatic landscapes and rewarding yet challenging terrain.
Over the course of the expedition, students will draw on the skills they have developed during their preparation, including navigation, campcraft, and decision-making. Just as importantly, they are continuing to build confidence, independence and resilience—key elements of both the Duke of Edinburgh Award and our school vision of Belonging, Becoming, Beyond.
Staff accompanying the trip have reported that students are in good spirits and supporting one another well as they take on this exciting experience.
We look forward to sharing further updates as the expedition continues and wish all of our students every success on their journey.
