Mental Health Awareness Week: Looking After Ourselves, Together

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week — a valuable reminder of something we talk about often in school, but don’t always prioritise enough as adults: our own wellbeing.
At The Meadows Academy, supporting young people’s mental health is at the heart of everything we do. Every day, we work hard to help our students develop the skills, confidence and resilience they need to navigate life. But alongside this, it’s important to remember that the adults around them — parents, carers and staff — matter just as much.
Looking after yourself is not a luxury; it is essential.
When life feels busy, stressful or overwhelming, it can be easy to put your own needs to one side. Whether you are juggling work, family responsibilities or simply trying to get through the day, your mental health deserves care and attention too.
We encourage all parents and carers to take a moment this week to check in with themselves:
  • How are you really feeling?
  • What small things help you feel calmer, more balanced or supported?
  • Who can you reach out to if things feel difficult?
There is support available, and you are not alone.

6 ways to make progress when you're overwhelmed

And please remember — if you are struggling, we are here. School is not just a place for your child; it is a community that cares about your whole family. If you need support, guidance or simply someone to listen, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Together, by looking after ourselves as well as our young people, we build stronger, healthier communities.

Thank you
