Soundtrack Your Story

The “Soundtrack Your Story” project by the National Literacy Trust offers a creative and exciting way for young people to explore storytelling through the power of music. As part of National Storytelling Week, students have been invited to craft their own narratives inspired by songs, rhythms and soundtracks—using music to spark ideas, shape characters and bring scenes vividly to life. Aimed at pupils aged 11–14, the project helps make writing more engaging by connecting it to the music they already love.
Taking part has given our students a refreshing opportunity to be creative in a different way, blending words and sound to express emotion, imagination and personality. It’s a fun, inspiring approach to developing literacy skills while discovering new, meaningful ways to share their voice. By experimenting with how music can influence storytelling, pupils begin to see writing as both an art form and a skill they can take pride in.
Well done on your enthusiastic participation everyone!
